Candy Tree Review

A few weeks ago I won a mini Candy Tree from Kerraz Kandi Trees.
I received my tree last weekend and I was very impressed. I even got my camera out to take a few snaps.

They are such a great idea and the mini/small trees are perfect as gifts for birthday or Christmas. The medium and large trees are great as a centre for a party or wedding.
There is a huge range of choice when it comes to the sweets you can have and each type gives a different look. Ferrero Rocher is available and give a great sense of elegance or for weddings maltesers or marshmallow trees look stunning.

My son defiantly enjoyed the jelly sweet one though :)

It was such a huge success that I have ordered two for Christmas
One mint Areo one with after eights in the bucket and one made from Elezabeth Shaw mint crisps which i think will look amazing with their gold wrappers on our table as our after dinner mints. Such a unique touch that really adds that something extra to the festive season.

Here is a picture of the Aero Mint tree
To say that I'm looking forward to them is an understatement.
Kerraz Kandi are also approved by Made in Cornwall

Amazing proposal

So as the weather turns and winter draws in, we prepare for the colder weather.
Chopping up wood for the fire, cooking stews and roasts instead of eating salad and pasta and preparing our hair for the lank dull winter.

The wedding season is coming to an end with only a few going on through the winter months for those brave enough to take on the weather.

So I wanted to do a little bit about my latest bride Demelza Farr.
She lives in Australia but was originally from England. Her and her now Husband came back too England to get married and more importantly they came to Cornwall. Padstow in fact.

The sun shone for there big day and there was a buzz of excitement in the air as the coffee and Champagne flowed.

But its not the day itself I want to share with you or even to do with Demelzas hair but in fact her proposal.

Both Demelza and her Husband are Marathon runners and rang the north pole marathon for Team GB.
They both placed brilliantly with Demelza being the first female finisher.
After crossing the line James sank down on to one knee and popped the question.
I can even show you a video as there were camera crews there and the clip was played in several countries on the news.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1LvUZC_S1o&feature=player_embedded

Poor Demelza was shaking in shock and confessed to us whilst we did her hair and make up that the pain in her feet was terrible and all she wanted was a nice warm meal and drink to warm her chilled bones.
But who can say romance is dead when you have spoken to the first every women to be proposed too at the north pole after running roughly 26 miles in up to minus 25 Celsius

Wedding Hair Accessories

Whether you chose a classic tiara, a side hair band, a glitzy clip or some simple pearls, most women have some kind of hair accessory on their wedding day.

And for a good reason too. Most women find that when wearing a wedding dress they need to add that extra something special to their hair to tie the look together

A lot of women chose the height of a bouffant and to compliment this a classic Tiara is the perfect staple hair accessory.

A hugely popular style is also curls pulled over to one side, a classic tiara like the one above does not compliment this style, it throws the whole look off center so for this a nice head band or a side detail Tiara/band is perfect.

Side Tiara

Headband

Or maybe you like a down style with very little to no height, with maybe a few strands pulled back from your face and pinned.
For this look you can get away with most styles other than very tall tiaras, as there really require a base of hair behind them, other wise they look slightly dumped upon the head.
So go with anything that you love, side, headband or tiara.

Lastly a great way of adding a bit of glammer but in a much more understated way, why not try twist gems or pearl pins, like the ones below. These can be used stand alone or as an added touch to any of the above.

All of the above items can be purchased from Cre8tive beauty products via their facebook page while the website is down for maintenance, just send them a message letting them know which item you would like.

Weight Loss product Review Lipo Wraps

So I know that this is a subject at the fore front of most women's minds so though I would make this next post on some products that I have found that can help shift some stubborn weight.

I know personally after having a child that your body changes so much and some times no matter how hard you try those last few Lbs/ Inches can be very stubborn to shift.

I have found some amazing products that not only help you to achieve this but also help tone skin and reduce the appearance of those pesky stretch marks.

So here is the science behind the Wraps

The Lipo wraps work within our bodies we all have interstitial spaces (also called extravascular compartment or tissue space) where toxins and fats gather, an interstitial space is an empty space or gap between cells. Groups of interstitial spaces are commonly referred to as fat cells. Over a period of time these fill with toxins and fats. We add to these depending on our lifestyle. People who smoke or drink alcohol, eat fatty foods will, on the whole, have more toxins and notice that certain areas are harder to lose, e.g. thighs or buttocks, and however much they diet, their body refuses to alter its shape or size. The Lipo fluid penetrates the outer membrane & stimulates circulation around these areas breaking down the toxins and fats which then drain through the lymphatic system, leaving the interstitial space empty or at least smaller, the sculpting wraps compress the layers back together so they do not refill, this is where the inch loss comes from.Initially your body will create new spaces or refill existing ones quite quickly because it is used to doing so. Depending on your lifestyle, it will take a longer & longer before these spaces reappear between wraps. Once you have reached your target dress size, it is a good idea to use the wrap from time to time to maintain your new shape and avoid those extra inches returning. The reason that we do not claim weight loss is because there is very little actual weight removed, the main success that is achieved is reducing mass. Some people will have more success than others because it depends on how deep the ‘space’ is located as to how effective the fluid will be at penetrating to the required level. It also depends if there is some muscle mass to compress against.Like all things.

Hair Spray review

Several people have asked me recently about what hairsprays are best.  My answer is that there is no one hairspray man enough for all jobs.
Here is a list of the sprays I use and which I use for what

TIGI Rockaholic Fun Times Flexible Hair Spray 400ml
I must admit I do love the Tigi range of hair sprays, this little beauty I use whilst styling due to the fact it is a flexible spray, If you are curling spray hair first with this then wrap around the tong/roller and then spray again once you have completed a row of curls.
The packaging on this is fun but i must say it has not got the Nice's scent and you can smell the alcohol, but all this is remedied with my next bottle of love

Tigi Bed head Masterpiece, Massive shine hairspray.
Now this smells AMAZING so I tend to use it as a finisher, Once the style is complete give it a really good bout of this to help it hold in place and give that amazing shine.

Now for those styles that really need a very firm and stiff hold I go for Fudge Membrane Gas
This really hold the hair in place and no amount of wind/rain is going to ruin it BUT it smells horrid or at least I think so although i have had a few clients who really like it :S
Secondly you get a stiff/hard set so if you don't like that feel on your hair then this is not the spray for you.

Lastly for those of you who prefer a gel spray i would always recommend the trusty 4+4 Indola gel spray
Brilliant hard setting gel that will keep all style's in place through rain and wind plus it brushes out brilliantly so you can remove the majority of it before washing.
I use these products for the wedding hair that I do, so they have to be of a great quality as well as looking professional. I hope this helps your hair spray woes, If you have a favourite spray leave a comment below to let the readers know what works for you.

Easy Hair styling tips

So I had my baby 5 weeks ago. As it turned out I had a little girl, so I'm now rather excited about the clothes and willing her hair to grow already and imagining the things that I can do with it when she is older and all the cute accessories i can put in it.
Here she is
Born on 24th March at 9Lbs at home in a birth pool. We named her Emily kathleen and she has completed our family.

So with very little time on my hands I though I would share my hair tips when you don't have much time to spare.

Colour : Now normally I like to colour my hair with a red or purple to add a slightly different depth to it but this needs more up keep than a standard flat colour so to combat this I dyed my hair dark brown and then to add a bit of something to it I had feather hair extensions put in.

They can last anywhere from 4 weeks to 4 months depending on your care for them.
Here is me with 2 red ones in my hair. My hair has just been blasted with the hair dryer and a bit of texturizer rubbed in to give some definition. Defiantly the fastest and easiest style to do while short on time as it only takes 10 mins.

Now if you have a little longer say 10-20 mins( the more practise you have the faster you will get) why not try Hot rollers to give yourself a very loose curl. this was done using the medium rollers wound half way up and held using claw clips to hold. left for how ever long you have and then gently raked through or this same look can also be achieved using a babylis wand although this would take a little longer say 20 - 30 mins if you are methodical about it.
Lastly a good play it safe is always to go lightly over the hair with straighteners tucking the ends under or even out for slight flicks, or when really short on time a high pony tail using a bit of hair wrapped around the base is a perfect summer look and keeps the hair off your face and shoulders so that you can catch that perfect tan.

34 week Bump and the products im using on it

My 34 Weeks Bump and the products I'm using on it

Well as you can see now my bump is getting to be quite some size, I'm sure every pregnant women out there has concerns over their ever expanding stomachs and boobs and the effect it will have on their skin.

now we all know about Palmer's tummy butter and Bio oil but what if you fancy trying something different, maybe going down the more natural organic root after all this is a beautiful time for any mother so why not use the very best/sourced products you can get and at the same time supporting a lovely Cornish company where the products are made.

Pure Organics is a Cornish company who hand make their products. They are not tested on animals and their ingredients are locally sourced where possible. They contain no harsh ingredients so are suitable for most skin types even the most sensitive.

Rose Hip Belly Butter
30 ml £3.25 60ml £6.50

This wonderful oil contains rosehip which is great for regeneration and can help prevent stretch marks.

With a lovely light scent this belly butter is creamy and a little defiantly goes a long way. It has an oily consistency that the skin soaks up quickly but it also leaves a slight feel of it on the skin (I personally prefer this as you know that through out the day your are protected rather than your body just evaporating it in with no signs of application) My skin feels softer to the touch like a new born baby's bottom and I'm left smelling lovely and girly for the rest of the day.

I have also been applying it to my breasts which are increasing in size almost as quickly as my stomach.

I personally think you are either prone to getting stretch marks or you are not but that doesn't mean you cant try and help the situation as obviously the more subtle the skin the more it is going to give and this product defiantly provides that subtleness and at such a fantastic price too.

I have also been using their face cream on my awful dry skin or should I say what was my dry skin

Face Cream30ml £3.00 60ml £6.00

a light fresh day cream enriched by the rejuvenating properties of avocado oil which is rich in vitamins A -B1-B2-D with essential oil of sweet orange.

The smell of this is amazing and again it has a lovely creamy consistency and a little goes a long way. I was suffering from a very dry T section before due to my pregnancy hormones but since using this lovely pot of goodness I no longer have a problem and I finally have that pregnancy glow that I hear people talking about. Of course it is brilliant for those who are not pregnant also and it doesn't leave your face feeling greasy like some creams do.

pure Organics have a massive range of products to cover you from head to toe and all at brilliant prices so gone are the days of paying through the nose for good quality organic products.

Their website is also a delight to navigate and they have some great gift sets for the loved ones in your life perfect for valentines day as they also have a men's section.

DIY Nail Foils

Do you love the celeb style of Minx nail foils?
Well how about getting your own for a fraction of the cost.
Now you could go and pay to have them done by someone in a salon where you will be looking at paying £20 plus for the basic treatment or you could buy the foils yourself and apply them at home.
With lots of designs to choose from you will be spoilt for choice.
Dazzle nail foils are brilliant and only costs £5 for a pack of 16 foils, enough if you are careful to do 2 applications. They are suitable for either fingers and/or toes and can last up to 8 weeks on toe nails.
Each pack comes with instructions on the back of the pack and the tools you would need are a nail foil and a small pair of nail scissors, the other tool that comes in handy is a cuticle hoof.
They provide such a brilliant finish that I guarantee once you have tried them you wont want to go back to the polish.

Babyliss Curling wand DIY Curls and (Product Review)

                                                              Babyliss Curling wand

Do you love the thought of having nice natural looking curls? Then you should try the babyliss curling wand. Its is one of my staple tools for all my hair up work and can offer a variety of finishes. Personally I prefer the larger barrel wand and feel there is no gain from having a slim line one.

To get the perfect curl make sure your hair is fully dry before you start. Then taking two sectioning clips clip up all you hair leaving an inch and a half to 2 inch section at the back of your hair. Spritz with a good quality flexible hair spray. Then taking a section of about an inch- 2 inches wide start to wind the section around the largest end of the barrel working towards the narrowest end. Hold for 7-12 seconds. Then gently unwind (do not pull, it will pull the curl out) repeat this process with the next few sections. Once done spray the whole section again with a flexible spray.

Section off another bit of hair and repeat the same process. Keep doing this until you whole head is curled. An example of the finished look.
Depending on the amount of curl you would like you can run your fingers through the hair to break the curl up slightly. You can have a wide range of different looks from the one above, to the ones below all from using the same wand and method.
Loosened with fingers and a clip added

further loosened for a more relaxed look.
To finish spray with a firmer hold hair spray and then spritz with a good quality shine spray.

My products of choice are bed head hair sprays and Hair Cre8tive shine spray.

General Update

So Christmas is over for another year and 2012 is finally here.
Everything has been quite on the work front and i imagine will continue to be to a point due to the fact i am expecting a new addition to the family this year so will be up to my eyeballs in nappies and puke once again.

Although to be fair i do not intend on taking too much time off work, at the moment it looks like it will be 4-6 weeks before i do my first wedding after the baby has arrived. But with the added little person to look after it will be finding the time to come on here seeing as i struggle now :D

Going to be spending the next few months promoting my new products so that i can make as much money working from home as possible in the hope that i can cut back on the volume of clients for a few months to spend more time with my family.

I don't go in for the whole new year new this that and the other but believe that you have to work hard to get where you want to be regardless of what time of the year it is. I have laid the foundation of my products so now its the spreading the word and putting the hard work of promoting into my products as well as expanding my stock of course.

Wedding will still be a big feature for me this year as i try to up the amount that i do again from last year, each year the amount of enquiries and bookings grows by 25-50% and I'm hoping it continues to so so for the next few years, it really is my favourite part of hairdressing and if i had to choose between hair up or colouring and never doing the other again i would quite happily sacrifice colouring to be able to curl, plait, crimp and pin, so many more chances to be creative and expressive.

Any who I have rambles on enough for now, Happy new year to all my clients and  customers old and new,
